While Johns Hopkins Hospital maintains a worldwide reputation as a medical research leader, it is also an urban medical center providing HIV care to those who are indigent or subsisting on minimal resources. The Johns Hopkins Regional Partner, in conjunction with the University AIDS Service and the Moore Clinic, makes available education, consultation, and referral sources to community healthcare providers treating HIV patients. With the Moore Clinic celebrating its twentieth year in HIV/AIDS care, the HIV treatment providers in Maryland have come to regard the AETC at Hopkins as the educational extension of the hospital's continuous commitment to people with HIV.
