The Institute of Human Virology (IHV) at the University of Maryland is a Regional Partner of the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center. HIV prevention and counseling educational trainings coordinated by the IHV are available to medical providers and healthcare workers throughout the State of Maryland. These courses serve to enhance knowledge and skills in working effectively with patients/clients and the community to promote primary and secondary prevention of HIV infection, as well as improving the quality of care for persons living with HIV/AIDS. Risk assessment, harm reduction, communications skills and HIV transmission prevention counseling are included in most courses.
