HIV & Aging

Due to the effectiveness of HIV treatment, people with HIV who are diagnosed early, receive, stay on treatment and reach viral suppression are able to live long and healthy lives. This also includes older persons newly diagnosed. For this reason, nearly half of people with HIV in the United States are aged 50 and older.

People aging with HIV share many of the same health concerns as the general population age 50 years and older. However, people aging with HIV may also experience additional unique health needs such as multiple chronic diseases, multiple medications, and increased vulnerability to stressors.

The HIV and Aging webinar series will address not only the complexities of care, treatment and management, but also the  psychosocial needs and impact of social determinants of health and how to improve the quality of life for a growing population of resilient Survivors and Thrivers.

Done in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Regional Partner Center for Infectious Disease and Nursing Innovation(CIDNI) Maryland Coalition on HIV and Aging(MCOHA)
