This is the fifth event in the MidAtlantic AETC's summer virtual event series focusing on the LGBTQIA+ communities. These 90 minute zoom sessions on Wednesdays in June, July, and August will explore provider self-care, trauma, stigma, HIV, and race in LGBTQIA+ communities and LGBTQIA+ identifying healthcare professionals. Objectives
As a result of attending, participants will be able to:
- Describe unique elements of boundary setting and confidentiality required by LGBTQIA+ clinicians caring for LGBTQIA+ community members;
- Discuss the psycho-social aspects of LGBTQIA+ care;
- Describe how to create a comfortable environment for LGBTQIA+ patients through a cultural humility lens
Accreditation

CME: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.This event is eligible for 1.5 credit hours.
Nursing: The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Approver Unit an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This event is eligible for 1.5 credit hours.
Certificate of Attendance: With completion of the required evaluations, participants can receive a certificate of attendance from the MAAETC.
Continuing Education credits issued for participation in CE activity may not apply toward license renewal in all states. It is the responsibility of each participant to verify the requirements of their state licensing board(s).
