About:
This session is part of the larger Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI) series on advancing HIV treatment and prevention access in the MidAtlantic region and the I-95 corridor. The series will highlight lessons learned, challenges encountered, and practical ideas participants can apply in their own programs. This session focuses on practical strategies for delivering HIV services to individuals and communities who face barriers such as unstable housing, transportation challenges, stigma, and competing social needs.
The speaker will explore mobile medicine models and other outreach approaches that bring care directly into communities in MidAtlantic. Topics will include adapting services to meet patients’ real-world circumstances, building trust through consistent presence, and integrating HIV care with support for social determinants of health.

- Develop a clearer understanding of how an integrated approach to substance use, primary care, ID care, and mental health services contributes to improved overall health outcomes
- Describe how HIV treatment strategies and low threshold services enhance adherence to treatment and support long-term retention in care
- Examine strategies to strengthen and expand supports that promote adherence, retention, and sustained engagement in care within clinical settings
