This session provides a practical introduction to HIV testing, prevention, and linkage to care for community health workers and other frontline staff.  Participants will learn why routine HIV testing is an important part of preventive healthcare, who should be tested, and how to understand and communicate rapid HIV test results.

Objectives

• By the end of this session, learners should be able to:

• Explain why routine HIV testing matters and who should be tested

• Describe the basics of rapid HIV testing and what results do – and do not – mean

• Recognize common HIV risk factors and situations where additional prevention support may be needed

• Describe PrEP in plain language and know when to refer someone for PrEP services

• Reassure patients that HIV is treatable and link them to care
