Objectives

1. Provide historic and current background on cognition in HIV and aging, demonstrating how far prognosis and treatment has advanced.
2. Review specific strategies for protecting and remediating cognition as people age with HIV.
3. Re-evaluate the concept of HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND).
4. Provide updates on current research trends in the field on cognitive aging with HIV.
5. Examine literature showing the magnitude of HIV’s effect on cognitive differences in people with and without HIV.
