This Community of Practice (CoP) is for Delaware professionals working with populations affected by HIV. This will be a safe space to come together monthly to learn more tools for our toolbox to support communities, become trusted messengers, empower clients to engage in their health, reduce the rates of HIV acquisition and co-occurring conditions and help those with HIV reach viral suppression.
This Month's Workshop Title: A Call for Syndemic Solutions at the Intersection of SUDs, HIV and STI’s
Learning Objective
- Define the concept of a syndemic and explain how substance use disorders (SUDs) interact with HIV and STIs to worsen health outcomes.
- Describe the public health relevance of syndemic interactions among populations experiencing overlapping substance use disorders and infectious diseases like HIV.
- Identify examples of syndemic solutions and care models, including how integrated clinical and service strategies bring together substance use disorder, infectious disease, and related health services to better address co-occurring challenges.
Facilitated by – Andrew Wilson, Co-Project Director, Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center
