Never Too Young, Never Too Old: HIV Prevention and Care Across the Lifespan
Details
100 Campus Dr Dover, DE 19904
Description
We look forward to bringing together Delaware’s HIV healthcare professionals, community advocates, educators, and individuals affected by or supporting those impacted by HIV. This year’s event is designed as a truly multidisciplinary experience—uniting clinical and community perspectives to strengthen HIV prevention and care across the lifespan.
What’s new this year—and why you’ll want to be there:
This year’s conference will take a fresh look at the evolving landscape of HIV prevention and care, with a special emphasis on the unique needs of:
- Younger individuals (24 and under) navigating identity, stigma, and care engagement
- Aging adults (50+) living longer with HIV and facing complex health and social challenges
Through a multidisciplinary lens, we’ll explore the clinical, psychosocial, and systemic factors that shape the experiences of people living with or affected by HIV—from adolescence through older adulthood. Attendees will gain new insights, practical tools, and collaborative strategies to enhance care in their own settings.
Objectives of the conference:
- Apply evidence informed strategies across the HIV care continuum to improve outcomes across the lifespan within their respective professional role.
- Examine how changing HIV demographics, aging, and "comorbidity can" impact care delivery and require evolving care models across clinical, social service, public health, and community-based settings.
- Identify multi-level barriers including social determinants of health, to HIV prevention, engagement, and retention among youth and older adults, including patient, provider, and system level factors relevant to interdisciplinary practice.
- Apply culturally responsive strategies to improve youth engagement and access to inclusive sexual health education across healthcare, educational, and community settings.
