22nd Annual HIV in West Virginia Conference
Details
Two Waterfront Pl, Morgantown, WV 26501
Description
The HIV in West Virginia Conference brings together clinicians, public health professionals, and community partners to examine evidence based strategies for HIV prevention and care in rural and underserved settings. The conference highlights current advances in HIV research and clinical practice, with a focus on applying these advances within healthcare systems across West Virginia.
Sessions address key topics including HIV epidemiology and surveillance, antiretroviral therapy, integration of mental health and substance use services, social determinants of health, and models of care that support sustained engagement in treatment. Content reflects the realities of HIV care delivery in rural communities, where primary care clinicians often serve as the primary providers of HIV prevention and treatment services.
The conference features interdisciplinary perspectives on HIV care, targeted breakout sessions focused on community based approaches and needs assessment, and dedicated content on PrEP delivery, including telemedicine and referral models designed to expand access in rural areas. These sessions align with national Ending the HIV Epidemic goals to reduce new infections, improve health outcomes for people living with HIV, and reduce disparities in care.
By combining current research, state and national data, and practical approaches tailored to rural practice, the conference supports healthcare providers and partners in strengthening HIV prevention, treatment, and long term care across West Virginia.
