The objectives for this education are:
- Describe the historical and microbiological aspects of this sexually transmitted infection.
- Explain the recent epidemiology, with emphasis on persons with HIV, and also women of childbearing age as pertains to congenital syphilis.
- Work up and treat cases of adult and congenital syphilis according to recommendations from CDC and AAP.
