This course is designed for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who want an overview of the epidemiology of hepatitis A, B, and C viruses, including transmission, prevention, and those at increased risk of infection.  Current hepatitis A and B vaccine recommendations along with considerations for vaccine service integration including infrastructure and workflow. Other barriers to providing viral hepatitis pharmacy services will be addressed, such as billing insurance and special considerations required for patients with co-occurring conditions (specifically, HIV/AIDS), social drivers of health, and substance use disorders. Patient and pharmacy-related education resources will be provided. Priority registration is given to individuals licensed in Philadelphia.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the mechanism by which hepatitis A (HAV), hepatitis B (HBV), and hepatitis C (HCV) are transmitted.
2. Identify appropriate treatment for patients with hepatitis B and hepatitis C, including patients with HIV co-infection.
3. Utilize ACIP recommendations to promote hepatitis A and B vaccinations to patients.
4. Implement immunization services at community pharmacy locations.
5. Locate immunization-related resources from PDPH.
