This three-day course is open to clinicians offering STI services.  This class is for clinicians that examine patients.

Some of the objectives for the course are listed below: 

1. Identify the sites from which specimens should be obtained.
2. Discuss STI Diagnosis.
3. Describe the management of STIs.
4. Describe the role of the disease intervention specialist (DIS) in STI control.
5. Explain how to monitor the patient and adjust care plan as needed.
6. Describe the importance of interprofessional collaboration in health department and private practice regarding STIs. 

This training is sponsored by the STD/HIV Prevention Training Center at Johns Hopkins, co-sponsored with Virginia Commonwealth University Regional Partner of the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, the Virginia HIV/AIDS Resource and Consultation Center and Virginia Department of Health. There is limited space for this event and first spots will be given to currently practicing clinical providers in the state of Virginia and surrounding states.

Target Audience:

Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, physician assistants, nurse clinicians working in STD, and Family Planning clinics This event is for currently practicing clinical providers in the above sectors. 

Accreditation

If you want to be eligible for credit, you must stay for the entire program and complete all required evaluations.  All participants must pass the posttest in order to receive any credit.  Since we have several organizations sponsoring this program, there will be two places that you will need to register.  After registering on this site, you will be redirected to the HIV/STD Prevention and Training Center's registration site. 

Intended Audience

This program is only open to prescribers and nurses in clinical settings including MDs, DOs, PAs, NPs, & RNs.
