Recent epidemiological data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that Black/ African women continue to be disproportionately impacted by HIV. This presentation is designed to assist clinicians with identifying barriers to HIV prevention, including biomedical interventions for Black women who are at-risk of contracting the virus.
Objectives
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe HIV prevalence and PrEP uptake among black women and available PrEP options.
- Recognize the importance of reframing risk for HIV Prevention.
- Summarize key updates to the CDC 2021 Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for the Prevention of HIV in the United States- A Clinical Practice Guideline.
- Describe Pharmacy-based Interventions in crease use of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis.
