This conference will focus solely on HIV and Women. According to CDC data more than 7,100 women received an HIV diagnosis in 2018. African American women are disproportionately affected by HIV, compared with women of other races/ethnicities. Conference attendees will gain knowledge of issues related to women with HIV and women without HIV as well as issues related to birth control using a shared decision making model.

Objectives: At the end of this program, participants should be able to:
1. Describe best practices for identification, care and treatment for the pregnant person with HIV.
2. Discuss the fundamentals of HIV infection and transmission.
3. Understand the epidemiology of HIV in women.
4. Describe HIV transmission and prevention issues specific to women.
5. Understand the impact of stigma and discrimination on the care of women with HIV.
6. Discuss examples of bias in reproductive health and education/counseling.
7. Demonstrate methods for assisting clients to learn about birth control using a shared decision making model.
