As a result of this program, participants will have an increased knowledge of drug paraphernalia and HIV related concerns.
This program will combine didactic lectures and illustrative case studies related to HIV prevention, care and case management in order to enable treatment and case management teams to provide the best quality of services to their clients and their region.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Identify current trends in HIV prevention, care and case management
- Describe methods for applying HIV prevention, care and case management concepts through illustrative case studies
- Discuss implementation of HIV prevention, care and case management concepts at individual, organizational and regional levels
Program Objectives
- Identify types of products and materials associated with substance use and how they are utilized, including common slang terms
- Describe methods for discussing substance use with clients, including harm reduction counseling and referral to appropriate services
- Discuss implementation of practices related to substance use, such as safety concerns for healthcare professionals, narcan use
