This program will provide updates regarding effectively and properly conducting HIV pre and post-test prevention counseling for inmates in the prison setting.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Identify key elements of HIV infection and the body’s response
- Describe different types of HIV tests
- Define role of nurses in patient counseling and education related to HIV testing
- Discuss application of HIV testing guidelines in the Corrections environment
- Demonstrate counseling skills used in prevention counseling through illustrative role play activities
