Event title: Taking Control in the Face of Uncertainty: Interprofessional Insights on Advance Care Planning in the Era of COVID 19
Description:
COVID 19 and the unfolding international crisis of this pandemic has highlighted the need for each of us to rethink our choices, our plans, and especially our advance care plans. Healthcare professionals and interprofessional teams across the HIV care continuum stand to play a significant role in this moment given the enormity of this crisis. However, to realize our potential in this moment we must become versed in Advance Care Planning, facilitating difficult conversations, and how the culture of care can and does impact families in crisis.
This session will outline and contextualize the evolving clinical, social, and legal landscape. Furthermore, this session will draw focus to emergent challenges to practice; new opportunities to create and implement advanced care plans; and practical ways to support interprofessional teams and patients who are equally positioned within this climate of crisis.
