This 2-day training will introduce San Francisco and other jurisdictions’ experiences in launching a city-wide PrEP (Day 1) and RAPID (Day 2) programs; trainers will provide an overview of the elements needed for successful PrEP expansion and early initiation of HIV antiretroviral treatment in newly-diagnosed HIV-positive clients for the members of the AIDS Free Pittsburgh initiative. A priority focus of this training will be on identifying and addressing specific health disparities.
These key strategies are part of the effort to reach the AIDS Free Pittsburgh goals of zero new AIDS cases and a 75% reduction in the rate of new HIV cases by 2020. The training will be led by Oliver Bacon, MD, MPH, and Diane Jones, RN, of the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
Audience
Participants will come from the network of STD, HIV prevention and HIV and FQHC Care workforce and leadership, including medical providers, clinic managers, social workers, navigators, DIS staff, administrators.
Your organization is invited to send a team of 2 individuals to participate in this training based on who would be the best champions to implement PrEP and RAPID at your organization. Your team should be comprised of:

2. Describe several PrEP and RAPID linkage to HIV care and treatment implementation models guided by recent experience in several jurisdictions.
3. Identify key systems level challenges to PrEP and RAPID scale up.
4. Identify practice changes that will need to take place in Allegheny County to implement expansion of PrEP and RAPID, including role changes, patient flow and communication systems with a focus on health disparities.
