Program Description:
As a result of this activity, participants will have increased knowledge of the legal aspects of HIV care, including an update on Act 148 of 1990 and Confidentiality and HIV. This program is designed for Persad Center staff and staff from other AIDS Service Organizations in the Pittsburgh area.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Explain the difference and importance between confidential information and privileged information
- Describe why ‘medical privacy’ is crucial to the provision of good care
- Explain why the safety of third parties is rarely served, and is usually mitigated, by the involuntary disclosure of a person’s HIV status
The intended audience for this program includes:
