The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, West Virginia Regional Partner's mission is to increase providers' capacity to provide high-quality HIV/AIDS care within our health care systems. Changes occur rapidly in the HIV/AIDS arena and all interested health care professionals should seek yearly updates to stay current including maternal health.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Explain general STI epidemiology and urgency of this issue as it relates to maternal health
- Discuss prevention and transmission for multiple sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
- Provide updated statistics on sexually transmitted infections nationally and in West Virginia
- Describe current testing, treatment, and chest/breastfeeding guidelines for those testing positive for certain STIs
- Discuss considerations for post-partum care of HIV
