Learn firsthand what it is like to be treated in an interprofessional care team. We will host members of our HIV community to join us and discuss the intentional care from a multidisciplinary approach. Community members will also share their stories.
Students will:
- Review the history of the HIV epidemic and the legacy of the effects of the epidemic on people, populations, and communities today
- Re-learn HIV basics, common myths and misconceptions, as well as key prevention and treatment strategies as they relate to the continuum of care
- Understand the importance of addressing stigma as a key tactic in preventing barriers to care
- Identify ways interprofessional practice improves patient care and outcomes by hearing from patients living with HIV who receive care at an interprofessional clinic
