As part of the MAAETC's "Ending the HIV Epidemic" series, this interactive webinar for physicians, CRNPs, PAs, RNs, case managers, BHCs and other members of HIV care teams will explore the many ways that trauma can impact all members of HIV care teams and can create secondary traumatic stress (STS), compassion fatigue or even burnout. Additionally, toxic stress can occur from the negative sequelae of systemic racism, a global pandemic, a toxic work environment, as well as whatever unresolved childhood trauma might exist. During this experiential session, practical brain and body-based strategies will be offered in order for staff to maximize their own resilience so that they can be healthy successful and productive. Presenter: Marcia Witherspoon, MSW, LCSW
Participants will be able to: 1. Identify the meaning of secondary traumatic stress and how it impacts the body; 2. Describe three self-care strategies that can be incorporated into daily practice.
CME, Nursing and Social Work credits will be offered.
