This one-half day training was designed to provide pharmacists with a basic understanding of HIV, how it's detected, its prevalence in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, how it is treated, and prevention options.
Upon completion of the program participants will:
- Understand and be familiar with the technical aspects of 4th generation HIV testing;
- Understand the importance of post-test counseling and linkage to care;
- Describe Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), it's goals, eligibility, and requirements for initiation; and
- Describe the adherence strategies to optimize HIV viral suppression.
Continuing Pharmaceutical Education Credit Available ® Howard University College of Pharmacy, (COP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program meets ACPE criteria for 1.50 contact hour (1.5 CEUs). Credit will be awarded through the CPE Monitor, within 3–4 weeks to those who successfully complete the program.
