This program will provide information on the significance of HIV transmission, HIV prevention, and pre-exposure prophylaxis medication for individuals at risk for HIV infection.
Objectives
- Discuss HIV discovery, history of HIV treatment development, and HIV epidemiology
- Compare modes of HIV transmission and prevention options
- Describe pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication and how it can be prescribed for patients at risk for HIV infection
- Present guidance for PrEP options, eligibility, and considerations for starting PrEP
