This two-day conference will bring together regional experts in HIV and related fields in order to enable HIV care teams to recognize manifestations of HIV and other co-morbidities in a diverse population. The aim is to pursue efforts that support a collaborative healthcare approach, so important in today’s complicated health care environment. Experts will talk about Public Benefits, Hepatitis C and the Opioid Epidemic, Cultural Competency, PrEP, Trauma Informed Care, and much more. Professionals working in these areas will be able to increase their knowledge of new updates in an interprofessional environment.
Intended Audience
The intended audience for this program includes:
•Physicians, physician assistants, psychologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, case managers, counselors, social workers, and other members of the HIV care team.
Accreditation
CME: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and MidAtlantic AETC. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians

PSNA: The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center is an approved provider of continuing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
This activity qualifies for 12.0 contact hours.
LSW/LCSW: 12.0 credit hours of continuing education is provided through co-sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, a PA-approved provider of social work continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW renewal.
PCB: This program qualifies for 12.0 hours of Pennsylvania Certification Board credit under Provider Status Agreement #251.
CEU: The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, University of Pittsburgh, awards Continuing Education Units to individuals who enroll in certain educational activities. This program is awarded 1.20 continuing education credits.
Program Objectives
As a result of this conference, participants will be able to:
1. Define Interprofessional Education and its role across the HIV Care Continuum
2. Discuss methods of improving healthcare outcomes by utilizing interprofessional care models
3. Describe recent changes in HIV treatment and care guidelines and notable research findings in HIV and PrEP
4. Discuss common primary care issues of HIV positive patients and patients on PrEP
5. Define the epidemiology of the opioid and Hepatitis C epidemic in Pennsylvania
6. Identify current clinical guidelines for treatment of HCV and opioid misuse disorder
7. Discuss methods for health providers to combat the opioid and HCV epidemic, including HCV screening and pain management alternatives to opioids
8. Describe successes in implementing HIV testing, linkage to appropriate healthcare for new positives, and linkage to harm reduction services (including PrEP) for patients who are HIV negative
9. Discuss challenges to HIV testing and linkage to care and services across Pennsylvania
10. Identify tools and methods that can address current challenges and barriers in the HIV Care Continuum
11. Identify culturally competent ways to engage young MSM of color in healthcare
12. Discuss effective methods of culturally competent care when discussing PrEP and other harm reduction tools with at risk young MSM of color
13. Identify key aspects of culturally competent care for women
14. Describe effective methods of culturally competent care when discussing women’s health issues (pre-conception planning, contraception) with HIV positive women
15. Discuss effective methods of culturally competent care when discussing PrEP and other harm reduction tools with at risk women
16. Identify key aspects of culturally competent care for women
17. Describe effective methods of culturally competent care when discussing women’s health issues (pre-conception planning, contraception) with HIV positive women
18. Discuss effective methods of culturally competent care when discussing PrEP and other harm reduction tools with at risk women
19. Classify eligibility requirements for traditional categories of Medical Assistance, such as Healthy Horizons and MA for Workers with Disabilities (MAWD).
20. Discuss implications of traditional Medicaid for HIV care team members
21. Describe eligibility requirements for Medical Assistance under the expansion and Medicare
22. Discuss implications of Medicaid Expansion and Medicare for HIV care team members
23. Describe the eligibility requirements for SSI and SSD.
