Recognizing the Oral Manifestations of HIV/AIDS and other STDs

This course will discuss the definition of STDs, the incidence of STDs in the population, and the oral signs and symptoms of STDs.  The list of STDs with oral manifestations includes Syphilis, Gonorrhea, HIV, and other viral STDs. The basic elements of a thorough oral examination will be discussed as well as relevant therapeutic regimens

Learner Objectives:
·         Review current prevalence of HIV/STIs in the United States today
·         Define the importance of HIV/STIs as they relate to dental health
·         Identify common oral manifestations of HIV/STIs
