MCHD EHE SERIES - Creating Sex Positive Spaces for Adolescents and Young Adults
Useful information for parents and youth-serving social services staff on opening dialogue at age-appropriate levels about sex and health, including LGBTQ specific considerations. Objectives include:
1. List reasons why parents and other adults avoid talking to teens about sex
2. Describe HIV/STI epidemiology among teens and young adults in MoCo
3. Describe the context of teen decision-making about sex.
4. Identify power dynamics, cultural barriers and stigmas that foster mistrust between adults and teens
5. Open a basic dialogue with young people about sex
