As a result of this program, participants will have increased knowledge of blood-borne pathogens, including HIV and Viral Hepatitis, and how to best prevent, test and refer to care for both staff and clients.
This program will combine didactic lectures, illustrative case studies and facilitated discussion to enable FSCAS programs to provide the best quality of services to their clients and their region.
Program Objectives
• Identify key risk factors for blood-borne pathogens (BBPs), including HIV, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C
• Describe current guidelines for prevention and testing for BBP exposures, both occupational and non-occupational, including suggested vaccination protocols
• Review other important infection prevention measures, including preventing transmission of influenza or similar infections (coronavirus)
• Discuss local resources for BBP testing and linkage to care
Intended Audience
The intended audience for this program includes all staff of Family Service & Children's Aid Society of Venango County.
