Clinical Assessments & Factors that Impact Student Learning and Psychosocial Development
Upon Completion of the following 3 presentations, participants will be able to:
1. Cultural Competency Objectives
- Define importance of how cultural norms, customs, language, and cultural expectations impact learning and behavior
- Identify how cultural competency will help to build trust with high-risk students, families and communities
- Identify how cultural competency increases the effectiveness of a multicultural team approach to engaging high-risk students, families and communities
2. Trauma Informed Care Objectives
- Define Trauma and how it manifest
- Define the RTI recommendations, Tier II & III that are Trauma focused
- Distinguish between the impact of trauma on student social-emotional state versus students who should be referred for SPED services
3. Motivational Interviewing Objectives
- Define Motivational Interviewing
- Identify the unique contribution motivational interviewing (MI) has on counseling outcomes
- Develop techniques to address barriers to motivational interviewing (MI)
