HIV/AIDS Update
Learning Objective: By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the medical and epidemiological information about HIV and related STI within DC and the surrounding areas
- Summarize the management of HIV in the healthcare workplace and other working environments consistent with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens
- Explain the use, risks and benefits of pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis treatment standards
- Describe the professional, ethical and legal standards applicable to a caregiver of a person with HIV
- Explain ways in which different healthcare team members can work together with the patient to improve adherence
