As a result of this activity, participants will have increased knowledge of legal, counseling and clinical aspects of case management that are essential to providing competent and informed care for a diverse patient population.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
• Explain the difference and importance between confidential information and privileged information
• Describe why ‘medical privacy’ is crucial to the provision of good care
• Explain why the safety of third parties is rarely served, and is usually mitigated, by the involuntary disclosure of a person’s HIV status
• Identify epidemiology of HIV and related co-morbidities in Pennsylvania
• Describe current HIV prevention and treatment, including recent changes to guidelines
• Identify epidemiology of common STDs in Pennsylvania
• Describe current STD prevention and treatment, including recent changes to guidelines
Intended Audience
The intended audience for this program includes:
• Case managers and healthcare professionals working in Ryan White Part B-funded organizations, or healthcare professionals who provide services to people living with HIV
